Brits voetbal staat stil bij overlijden koningin Elizabeth
Queen Elizabeth, de Britse vorstin, is dood. Ze overleed donderdag op 96-jarige leeftijd. De Britse samenleving, en dus ook het Britse voetbal staat stil bij haar overlijden.
Verschillende Britse clubs en voetbaliconen betuigden via Twitter hun medeleven. Voorafgaand aan de wedstrijd tussen Manchester United en Real Sociedad zal een minuut stilte in acht worden genomen. Het overlijden van de koningin werd aangekondigd tijdens de eerste helft van Heart of Midlothian - Basaksehir en FC Zürich - Arsenal. In Edinburgh en Zürich begint de tweede helft met een minuut stilte. Bij Manchester United - Real Sociedad gebeurt dat ook, en de vlaggen op Old Trafford hangen halfstok.
Bevestigd is er nog niets, maar Britse verslaggevers suggereren dat het betaald voetbal in Engeland dit weekend niet door zal gaan.
